Frederick C. Shaffer, CPA, MBA

Fred earned his CPA certificate in 1975 when he was an agent with the Internal Revenue Service. While with the IRS he was a group manager, expert witness and taught income tax law to revenue agents. He has been an instructor of accounting and income tax classes for the University of Arizona, Pima Community College and the Arizona State Society of Certified Public Accountants.

Over the course of his career he has been involved in the planning and preparation of a multitude of income tax returns He has been engaged as a forensic accountant and has testified as an expert witness in a variety of accounting and income tax cases, including being appointed as a Special Master to resolve issues in business disputes.

Jayne A. Shaffer, CPA

Jayne graduated from the University of Arizona with honors in 1982 and achieved her CPA certificate in 1983. She was the executive director of finance for Tucson Unified School District for almost 10 years.

In 1990, she decided to join Fred in the practice of public accounting. She has taught accounting and income tax classes for the University of Phoenix and Pima Community College.

Laura M. Danker, CPA

Laura Danker has over 15 years of experience in finance and accounting. After graduating from Stanford University, she began her career as an investment banker with Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette, where she managed high yield bond transactions, initial public offerings, and mergers and acquisitions.

While with DLJ, she raised over $1 billion in capital for her clients. In 1998, she began her own firm that provided investment banking services to smaller clients and acted as financial advisors to clients in a wide variety of industries. In 2004, she returned to Tucson, Arizona and joined Ventana Medical Systems in their finance department. In 2009, she earned her CPA certificate and joined the firm.

Tyler Houghton, CPA

Tyler was born and raised in Salem, Utah. He began his career by serving for the United States Army in the 82^nd Airborne Division for four years at Fort Bragg, NC. Afterwards, he began to work in the insurance industry while obtaining his Bachelor’s in Accounting at Western Governors University. He then worked as a Staff Accountant while finishing his Master’s in Accounting. After finishing his master’s degree in 2021, he joined Shaffer & Danker, CPA’s and he earned his CPA certification in 2022.
